Martello Tower (Ferry Reach, St. George’s Parish) — Our sole Martello tower was built during the 1820s of hard Bermuda stone. The only access is by drawbridge, which crosses the ditch to the barracks on the second level. To the north of the tower is a magazine; its walls are reinforced by flying buttresses and the roof is structurally weaker so that in the event of an explosion, the roof would be blown off while leaving the walls intact. Free admission. Free admission. Hours: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (daily / summer). During winter, you will need special permission from the Department of Parks Bermuda, to enter the fort.
